Who we are

Cruoo is a marketplace for outdoor experiences in Kerala — boat rides, kayaking, backwater cruises, and similar activities run by independent local operators. This policy describes how we handle your information when you browse, book, or contact us.

Information we collect

We try to collect only what we need to take your booking and connect you with the operator.

  • Booking details — your name, phone number, email, the experience and date you've chosen, and the number of guests.
  • Payment details — you pay us directly over UPI. We see the booking reference and the credit amount in our bank statement to reconcile, but we do not store your UPI ID, bank account, or card credentials.
  • Account details — if you sign in, we keep the email or phone you signed in with and a record of your past bookings and saved experiences.
  • Communication — messages you exchange with us over email or WhatsApp, including the support thread.
  • Technical data — basic logs (IP, browser, page visited) used to keep the site running and detect abuse.

How we use your information

  • To process your booking, send confirmations, and pass the necessary details to the host operator over WhatsApp.
  • To send transactional messages — booking confirmations, reminders, cancellation receipts, and refund updates.
  • To answer your questions and resolve issues with a booking.
  • To improve the service — understanding which experiences are popular, fixing bugs, and preventing fraud.
  • To meet legal and tax obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We don't share your contact details with third parties for marketing.

Who we share information with

  • The local operator running the experience you've booked — they receive your name, phone number, party size, and slot. They use this to host you on the day and to reach you if there's a change.
  • Secure payment processors — to handle your transaction and settle payouts to operators.
  • Communication service providers — to send you transactional emails and WhatsApp booking updates.
  • Cloud infrastructure providers — to securely host our website, database, and backend services.
  • Lawful authorities — only when we are strictly required to disclose information by law.

Cookies

We group cookies into three categories. Strictly necessary cookies keep you signed in and remember your slot during checkout. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Marketing and personalization cookies, used to tailor offers and remember your preferences across visits, are optional and stay off unless you accept them.

You can choose which optional cookies to allow in the cookie banner when you first visit, and you can clear cookies in your browser at any time. If you clear them, you'll need to sign in again.

How long we keep your data

Booking and payment records are kept for as long as we're required to by Indian tax and consumer-protection law (typically 7 years). Account information is kept until you ask us to delete it. Support conversations are kept for up to 2 years for quality and dispute resolution.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Show you the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that's wrong.
  • Delete your account and the personal data attached to it (we'll keep the minimum we're legally required to retain).
  • Stop sending you non-essential messages.

Email support@cruoo.com from the address on your account and we'll get back within 7 working days.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest at our cloud providers. UPI payments route through your chosen UPI app and the regulated bank network — we never see or store your UPI PIN, card details, or bank login. We restrict internal access to booking data to the people who need it to support you.

Children

Cruoo is intended for adults. If you are under 18, please book through a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page from time to time. The date at the top reflects the latest revision. If we make a material change, we'll notify you by email or on the site before it takes effect.
